Bits of Good News Surface in the Rubble

Around the first of the year, news channels, blogs and twitter feeds were buzzing with optimism about the new decade and reflecting on how the worst was behind us. But just twelve days into the year, a massive earthquake hit Haiti and we all breathed a collective sigh of shock, while intensely and quickly rallying to help.
After absorbing the sadness and shock of the situation these last two weeks, it’s been remarkable to read so many positive stories over the past 24 hours: two survivors were pulled from wreckage unthinkably 15 days after the quake; Friday’s televised Hope for Haiti Now raised more than $60 Million in relief efforts; and iTunes announced that the “Hope for Haiti Now” album became the first digital album ever to take the number one spot on the Billboard charts.
With the help of donations from the Boulder community and Crocs employees, we were able to ship Crocs shoes, water, food, and emergency medical supplies with help from our friends at Feed the Children. We were thrilled to see our friends at Soles4Souls continue to lend support by sending more (including Crocs) shoes as reported by the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric last night.
We like to think that as the world pools its resources and its hope, more good news will reveal itself. Haiti has just begun to rewrite its story from one of tragedy, to one of recovery.
